• High School senior or student receiving an accredited high school diploma or GED
• Plan to attend an institution of higher learning
• Direct descendant of a US military veteran (veteran refers to former and current members of the US Armed Forces, including the National Guard)
• SD resident
• High School Transcript
• Three letters of recommendation from each of the following outlining your character, Americanism and activities
1. Member of the clergy or community service organization
2. An educator
3. Business person or civil leader
• A copy of the qualifying military member's service record (e.g. DD-214, Points Statement)

Amount $500 (preference may be given to a student attending an institute of higher learning in South Dakota)
