The 1st Annual Broosters 2012 Scholarship Essay Contest
At Broosters we value education and we believe in giving back. Are you a graduating high school senior and plan to continue your education in 2012? If you plan to do that right here in South Dakota, then this is your chance to earn scholarship money. In the Broosters Dakota Cuisine Cookbook, we share more than recipes. We share our stories about friends, family, hunting, and growing up in South Dakota. And if you’ll share your favorite South Dakota hunting or outdoor memory with us, you could earn a scholarship for 2012.
Scholarships
We will offer three (3) 2012 scholarships: The winner receives a $1000 scholarship, and two runners-up will each receive $500.
Eligibility
Graduating high school seniors who live in South Dakota and will attend a South Dakota college, private college, university or technical institute.
Contest Submission Deadlines
Submissions accepted beginning March 15, 2012.
Deadline for submissions is June 15, 2012.
Winners will be announced on July 1, 2012.
Contest Requirements
Applications may not be accepted if they do not meet all of the following requirements:
1. Original non-fiction narrative of 750-1,000 words, typed and double-spaced, on the topic, “My favorite South Dakota hunting memory.” Incorporation of the themes of family and/or friends in narrative is encouraged.
2.Signature of permission to enter, and to have winning essay(s) potentially published in a future Broosters Dakota Cuisine Cookbook or online at broosterssd.com.
3.One-paragraph autobiography listing personal interests, intended college major and career goals.
4.Copy of student’s driver’s license OR state-issued photo ID (to verify South Dakota state address).
5.Essay must be both mailed and e-mailed: Submit e-mail to tim.broosters@gmail.com and mail to Broosters Dakota Cuisine, LLC; 2124 S. 1st Avenue Sioux Falls, SD 57105
6.Mailed application should be postmarked no later than the deadline, June 15.
7.Submission packet shall be stapled in this order: application form with signature, essay, one-paragraph biography, and copy of driver’s license or a state-issued photo ID. 8. Contest winners will be required to submit verification of college enrollment, as an additional requirement.
